DR A P J ABDUL KALAM- MISSILE MAN OF
INDIA
Dr A P J Abdul Kalam also known as the Missile Man of India was born on 15th
October 1931 at Rameswaram in Tamilnadu. He served as the 11th President of India. He belonged to a middle class
family. His father Jainulabdeen was
a boat owner and imam of a local mosque.
In his School, he was
graded as an average student. But he was described as a bright and hard working student. He was graduated in Physics in
1954. After one year he moved
to Madras Institute of Technology to study Aero Space Engineering. He started his career by designing
a small hovercraft in 1958. He joined ISRO in 1963. He was involved in shaping Indian Satellite and launch vehicles
of ISRO and missile programmes of DRDO. He was
also the Principal Scientific Advisor to Govt of India. He became President of India 25th July 2002.
Government of India honoured
him with Padmabhushan, Padmavibhhusan and Bharath Ratna. He completed term as President of
India in the year 2007. In 2012 he was
ranked number 2 in Outlook’s India’s poll of the Greatest Indian. Even
after his death the Tamilnadu State Government observes October 15th his
birthday as the “Youth Renaissance Day”.
He breathed
his last on 27th July 2015.
